The Food and Rum Festival in Barbados’ premier annual event. This year it will be over the 18th – 21st of October 2018. Barbados is the birthplace of rum and this festival celebrates our local food and spirit.
This years events include:
- Night Out in Oistins (18th Oct)
- Taste of the Exotic, A Signature Rum Event (19th Oct)
- Gourmet Safari (20th Oct)
- Taste the Spirit of Polo (21st Oct)
Over the years the Food and Rum Festival has changed quite a bit. This year’s focus is on local talent. In previous years the emphasis was on bringing in celebrity chefs, whereas this year there has been a shift to nurturing local talent.
There needs to be a healthy mix of the two. I would also like to see a push towards highlighting regional chefs. This should be a major event for the Caribbean as a whole. Recently there have also been many pre-events around the island. This has be an awesome touch, the best way to get Bajans excited is to spark their interest at a rum shop.
If you are interested in any of the events, check them out at www.foodandrum.com and follow them on Facebook to find out when the pre-events are happening. Tell us, have you ever been to any Barbados Food and Rum events?
